With the cleaning and inventorying of parts from AA810 well underway in Bedfordshire, the team travelled North to Edinburgh to further the research element of the project. It has taken almost a year to trace the living relatives of the men who flew AA810 and in our latest travels we met with Flight Lieutenant Alastair Gunn’s nephew.

Alastair brought with him some fabulous documents and photos from the Gunn family archive, the most touching being Alastair’s logbook and diary where he had recorded in exquisite detail his life in the Royal Air Force. Days like these are why the project exists, to bring together people to tell the stories of what occurred so that future generations never forget. Alastair is very supportive of the plans for AA810 and we look forward to his continued involvement in the forthcoming restoration.
